Hi there, and welcome to week three!So actually at the end of this week we'rehalfway through the course already.So ... we've talked about in week one,typical development of reading.Week two: we were looking at specificidentification of reading difficulties.This ... week we move to ... the wider 'constellation' of dyslexia -... a word that's sometimes used is the'comorbidity', so the occurrence of readingissues with other things that do seemto commonly co-occur with dyslexia.So this is things likemathematical difficulties,attention issues, underlying issueswith auditory and visual perception.So ... we'll be taking a lookat different things like that.We're also going to lookat the wider social andpsychological impact of the reading issue.Because, if you think about it,a child's school career has reading somuch as it's core.So, if you're not able to read very well,there's bound to be psychological andsocial impacts, unless these can beprotected against.We're then going to move on to also someof the real strengths that people withdyslexia, often have; so the domainsthat aren't impacted by the reading.And we're going to have somecase examples of both jobs andskills where we really seepeople with dyslexia shining.
